22 Jul 2006: On August 17, 1959 an earthquake sent a portion of a mountain sliding into the Madison River. The rock killed several campers and the blockage created a natural dam. Here, the slide leading to the creation of Quake Lake is quite evident. From 44.833N x -111.431W
